Hi! I’m Alex
I’m a Registered Osteopath, and the founder of New Release Osteopathy. A graduate of the well respected College of Osteopaths, I practise both structural and cranial osteopathy at clinics in south Hertfordshire.
Osteopathy is about releasing your body’s natural capacity for self-repair and healing to ease restriction and manage pain.
It’s a system of diagnosis and treatment designed to help you adapt to change more easily, alleviate symptoms, and restore you to a state of natural balance and ease, relaxation and improved flexibility.
I use both cranial and structural osteopathy – gentle, hands-on techniques that are safe, non-invasive, and designed to provide relief from a wide range of conditions and diagnoses, including:
Pain, tension, or stiffness in your back, neck, or joints can make everyday movement feel harder than it should - whether it’s bending, walking, reaching, or just getting comfortable. I often support people with conditions like sciatica, frozen shoulder, sacroiliac joint pain, or disc-related symptoms, as well as soft tissue or tendon problems such as runner’s knee, tennis elbow, rotator cuff strain, or Achilles discomfort. Some arrive with longer-term issues like bursitis, plantar fasciitis, or coccydynia. Treatment focuses on where the body is under strain or moving less freely - using gentle, hands-on techniques to ease restriction, restore mobility, and help movement feel more natural again.
You might notice tingling, numbness, or sudden shooting pains that seem to come from nowhere – nerve-related discomfort can feel sharp, unpredictable, and hard to describe. I often work with people experiencing sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, or what’s sometimes called a trapped nerve - where pressure on the nerve causes pain, weakness, or a dragging sensation in part of the body. Others come in with jaw tension, facial discomfort, or headaches linked to TMJ issues, or with nerve sensitivity linked to strain in the neck, shoulders, or upper back. Treatment focuses on easing tension around irritated nerves - giving the body space to recover, and helping things feel more normal again.
You might feel bloated, heavy, or out of sync - as though your digestion isn’t working as smoothly as it should, or that your body feels slowed down and uncomfortable. Some people come to me with symptoms like reflux, abdominal tightness, constipation-related back pain, or a general sense of pressure through the midsection. Others mention cold hands and feet, or mild fluid retention, which may reflect patterns of postural tension or reduced mobility through the spine, ribs, or diaphragm. While osteopathy doesn’t treat digestive or circulatory conditions directly, I often support people living with these kinds of discomfort. Gentle, hands-on treatment can help release strain, improve physical ease, and support the body’s ability to move and function more freely.
You might be living with long-standing joint or soft tissue pain - from conditions like osteoarthritis, bursitis, or tendonitis - where movement feels more limited, swollen, or uncomfortable than it used to. Often there’s an underlying pattern of tension or strain that the body has been managing for a long time. I work with people not just to ease the painful area, but to understand how the rest of the body has been adapting – and where it may now need support. Treatment is tailored to you, using gentle, hands-on techniques to reduce sensitivity, release tension, and support easier, more comfortable movement.
Breathing and posture are more connected than most people realise. When the body is tense or slumped, it can restrict movement through the ribs, spine, and diaphragm - making breathing feel shallow, tight, or strained. I often work with people who notice chest tightness, shortness of breath, or a sense they can’t quite take a full breath. Sometimes it’s linked to postural strain from desk work or patterns known as ‘upper crossed syndrome’. Others describe tension through the chest, neck, or upper back - sometimes with symptoms that overlap with thoracic outlet syndrome. My aim is to release areas of strain, restore easier movement, and help breathing feel more natural - while gently supporting postural ease at the same time.
When daily habits start to build up in the body, they often do so quietly - until things begin to feel tight, compressed, or off balance. Long hours at a desk, scrolling on a phone, carrying children, repetitive tasks, or simply staying upright for too long can leave the body feeling worn down and under strain. I often support people with tech neck, tension headaches, and repetitive strain – as well as those adjusting to postural changes linked to pregnancy or the physical demands of daily life. These patterns don’t always cause acute pain, but they can leave you feeling stiff, tired, or less free in your movement. Treatment is shaped around where your body is carrying that tension – helping release strain and restore a greater sense of ease in how you move and feel each day.
I’m based in Borehamwood, and work as an Associate Osteopath at the highly regarded, multi-disciplinary Osteopathics clinic in Watling Street in the neighbouring village of Radlett, where my schedule spans:

You might feel like your breathing has become tight or shallow - especially after long hours at a desk or during times of stress. Some people notice discomfort when trying to take a full breath, or a sense of pressure across the chest, neck, or upper back. Breathing is shaped by more than just the lungs; restricted movement through the ribs, spine, or diaphragm can all play a part. I often support people with breathlessness, chest tightness, or postural strain - sometimes linked to patterns like upper crossed syndrome, or tension that shares features with thoracic outlet syndrome. Treatment focuses on easing strain, restoring movement, and helping breathing feel more natural again – while gently supporting postural ease.

I’m also qualified in the minimally invasive technique known as Dry Needling – sometimes referred to as medical acupuncture – used, where appropriate, to help release deep-seated muscular tension and restore ease of natural movement.
