Alex Gorin Feller, Osteopath in Borehamwood

Hi! I’m Alex

I’m a Registered Osteopath, and the founder of New Release Osteopathy. A graduate of the well respected College of Osteopaths, I practise both structural and cranial osteopathy at clinics in south Hertfordshire.

Osteopathy is about releasing your body’s inherent potential for self-repair and healing to ease restriction and manage pain.

It’s a system of diagnosis and treatment designed to help you adapt to change more easily, alleviate symptoms, and restore you to a state of natural balance and ease, relaxation and improved flexibility.

As an osteopath, I adopt a holistic approach, providing hands-on care to promote vitality, health and wellbeing. My goal is to release stress and tension resulting from impaired or compromised health, or dis-ease.

Alex Gorin Feller treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions

My training includes both cranial and structural osteopathy – safe, gentle, and non-invasive – to provide relief from a wide range of conditions and diagnoses, including:

Dealing with musculoskeletal issues can be challenging and impact your daily life. Osteopathic care can help alleviate your pain and enhance your wellbeing, whether you're struggling with chronic back pain (persistent lumbago), neck pain, or sciatica (pain radiating down the leg). Whether it's a frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), rotator cuff issues, hip or knee pain, pelvic pain, including conditions like sacroiliac joint dysfunction, Achilles tendonitis (heel discomfort), runner's knee, golfer's elbow, tennis elbow (medial and lateral epicondylitis, respectively), or joint inflammation - including bursitis and coccydynia ('tailbone' pain), or plantar fasciitis (heel pain caused by inflammation of the tissue connecting the heel to the toes) - osteopathic treatments are designed to support you in staying active, and in maintaining a balanced, pain-free lifestyle.

Nerve-related discomfort can be frustrating and limiting. Osteopathic care can assist in easing the symptoms of conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, which can cause tingling or numbness in your hands, or nerve impingement affecting your arms or legs. If you're experiencing TMJ disorders (jaw pain) or tension headaches linked to stress or muscle tension in your neck and upper back, osteopathic treatments can provide significant relief. For those dealing with radiculopathy, where nerve irritation stems from the spine, personalised osteopathic care can help alleviate pressure and enhance your overall comfort.

While osteopathy doesn't directly treat circulatory or digestive conditions, it plays a supportive role by addressing the musculoskeletal factors that contribute to discomfort. For instance, improving posture and reducing tension can help alleviate back pain associated with digestive issues, such as constipation. Enhanced mobility may also ease discomfort from poor circulation, such as oedema (for example, swollen legs) or cold extremeties. Additionally, if you experience pressure in the ears due to neck or jaw tension, osteopathic techniques can help release that tension.

Long-term discomfort from conditions like tendonitis or bursitis can be exhuasting. Osteopathic approaches focus on reducing pain and restoring movement by easing muscle tension, decreasing inflammation, and enhancing joint flexibility. If you're managing osteoarthritis, osteopathic treatments can help relieve joint pain and support your mobility, making daily activities more comfortable and enjoyable.

Breathing difficulties caused by stress, poor posture, or muscle tension in your chest or back, can significantly affect your quality of life. Osteopathic care aims to release tension and promote better breathing comfort, addressing symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and shallow breathing - often linked to muscle tension or poor posture. If you're dealing with rib dysfuntion, which may cause sharp pain during breathing or coughing, or diaphragm tension that restricts deep breathing, osteopathic techniques can help ease movement and improve your breathing patterns.

Modern lifestyles often involve repetitive movements or prolonged sitting, which can strain the body over time. Osteopathic care can help manage these issues before they become chronic. Whether you're experiencing repetitive strain injuries (RSI) from typing or desk work, dealing with lower back and pelvic pain during pregnancy, or facing postural problems from a sedentary lifestyle or manual labour, osteopathic treatments aim to ease discomfort and support your long-term physical health. Additionally, if you're recovering from sports-related strains, osteopathic care can assist in restoring function and preventing future injuries, helping you stay active and engaged in the activities you love.
